About the Country Fayre
We look forward to welcoming you to the fayre on Saturday 19th September 2026!
St Peter's Country Fayre has been a popular annual event in Bishop's Waltham since 2015. Every year the fayre has grown, and each year we welcome hundreds of people visiting throughout the day. We ask for a £2 donation for adults on entry via the gate at St Peter's Street or Maypole Green. Stalls are scattered all around the churchyard with loads to do for everyone. Inside the church there are fresh cakes, sandwiches, tea, coffee and cold drinks and space to sit down and listen to live music. Outside there is a bar selling real ale and Pimm's as well as a BBQ and live music performances throughout the day.
St Peter's church stands proudly in the heart of Bishop's Waltham and the churchyard is a popular thoroughfare for the whole community. Monies raised at the Fayre are used to support the day-to-day running of the church, including maintaining the fabric of the church itself and the churchyard.
The fayre is organised by a small team of people from the community who work tirelessly in the months leading up to the fayre to organise stalls, entertainment, health and safety checks, event promotion, liaison with sponsors, and much more. The day itself starts around 7am when the church grounds are prepared for the stallholders' arrival, making sure everything is set out ready for the event to open at 11am.
The time-lapse video below was recorded from the church tower during the 2021 fayre and shows just a small section of the event and the people who came to browse the stalls. Around to the left of the church was the food and drinks area with live music, a real ale bar, BBQ and Prosecco & Pimm's. Through the trees were the Dog Show and Live Ferrets and Kids' Crafts Corner. Inside the church was a busy team providing fresh sandwiches and cakes, with the church choir singing beautifully throughout the afternoon... it was a brilliant day with lots going on for everyone!
